Accelerating City Equity (ACE) Project — Active-Learning Resource Center
The Accelerating City Equity Project was developed by ISUH to address a persistent gap in urban health practice: the evidence base on what works to advance health equity in cities is substantial, but it is rarely accessible to the practitioners, planners, and policymakers responsible for city-level decision-making — particularly in organizations with limited research capacity. The ACE Project assembles this evidence and makes it freely available through an active-learning platform. The site at acehealthequity.org provides: the Five Building Blocks for Equity — a practitioner-facing framework distilled from global evidence; a curated Bright Spots Library of city-level equity innovations from every world region; a Stories from the Field video series featuring master practitioners sharing first-hand experience from cities across Asia, Latin America, Africa, and North America; and a downloadable Equity into Action Starter Kit for organizations beginning equity work. All ACE resources are free, openly licensed, and designed for use without specialized research training.
Documented Impact: Thousands of practitioners, students, and policymakers have accessed ACE resources globally. The Five Building Blocks for Equity framework has been adopted in city planning processes and academic curricula. Stories from the Field represents one of the most geographically diverse collections of practitioner urban health experience available online.
