Shafi U. Bhuiyan MBBS, MPH, PhD

Dr. Shafi Ullah Bhuiyan, Ph.D., is a Medical Doctor, and Public Health Scientist & Ex-JSPS Postdoctoral Foreign Research Fellow at the Osaka University, Japan. He has Masters in Public Health (Urban Health) from Mahidol University in Thailand. His research interests are in utilization and effects of MCH handbook on women’s and children’s health care; public health policy and health system, hospital management, women empowerment and social development. His current research projects and recent publications involve using evidence based data to study effects on maternal, neonatal and child health; advances in health policy and health system management; and related to Urban health issues. He has conducted research on the maternal and child health and family planning, HIV/AIDS, determinants of health and well-being among women and children for over 12 years. He pioneered the application of MCH handbook in the field of maternal, neonatal and child health to understand the effects of health promotion and sustainable development in health in developing countries like Bangladesh. He has graduate teaching experiences of PHC management program at ASEAN Institute for Health Development, Mahidol University as a Faculty member, Thailand. Recent experience as an academic moderator for Mini lecture on International Health at Graduate School of Human Sciences, Osaka University, Japan. He has also excellent working ability with international development partners i.e. UNFPA, EC and JICA for reproductive health and maternal, neonatal and child health services. He is a member of the Global Health Council, International Society of Urban Health, and Japan Association for International Health, Canadian Association of International Health, International Union of Health Education and Promotion. He has a Ph.D. major in International Health from Department of International Collaboration in Health, Graduate School of Human Sciences, Osaka University, Japan. He is a permanent resident of Canada since February 2008 and wish to work for multicultural community and urban health with your kind assistance, support and cooperation will be highly appreciated.
